MONTANA Crystal Rock Max
1. Surface repair

We repair damage to the base using the P-TEX MASTER. By melting the material with pinpoint accuracy, scratches, holes and damage to the base are neatly sealed.
For finer repairs, we use the MONTY Extruder, which allows us to repair small areas with particular precision.

Benefits for you:

  • smoother base
  • better gliding performance
  • longer lifespan for your skis or board
2. Stone grinding of the tread

First, we ensure the base and edges are perfectly flush so that your skis grip perfectly later on.
The base is then given a texture that ensures optimum glide, tailored to the snow conditions.

With the MONTANA base profiling system, we can precisely adjust everything from simple linear patterns to complex, computer-controlled Vario patterns – just as is done in the World Cup.

Benefits for you:

  • fibre-free, clean base
  • better grip and better control
  • significantly improved glide performance
3. Sanding the side edges

The side edges of your skis or snowboard are ground to a precisely defined angle (87°, 88° or 89°) along their entire length.
To do this, we use special ceramic belts that are guided over a precision ceramic sliding shoe.

Result:

  • a consistent angle from the tip to the tail
  • a very smooth surface
  • long-lasting edge sharpness
  • material-friendly removal
4. Side-edge tuning

With MONTANA High-Tech Tuning (HTT), the steel edge on the base side is finely polished to a slight overhang (approx. 0.5°–0.8°).
This removes any burrs left over from the previous grinding and ensures a butter-smooth, controlled ride.

We also use Radial Tuning:
In the binding area, the edge is tuned to approx. 0.5°, and in the tip and tail areas to approx. 0.8°. The base itself remains completely untouched.

Benefits for you:

  • smoother turning
  • greater edge grip
  • better control, especially at higher speeds
  • a mirror-polished edge for even better gliding performance
5. Waxing and polishing

For the final step, we use the MONTANA WAXMASTER.

It ensures precisely measured wax, even application and a perfect polished finish.

For you, this means:

  • faster, smoother glide
  • better performance in all snow conditions
  • longer-lasting wax
  • clean, environmentally friendly application

GRIPtech

A revolution in the preparation of the side edge

The MONTANA GRIPtech system grinds the side edge of your skis or snowboard vertically. This creates an exceptionally precise, sharp and durable edge – completely free of run-in marks and across all functional points. The result is genuine race-edge quality.

The GRIPtech system represents a significant leap in quality for ski and snowboard servicing: when combined with radial tuning, it produces an edge that is extremely grippy, cleanly polished and perfectly controllable. Ideal for greater safety, better performance and a superb riding experience.

Advantages of the GRIPtech system

The GRIPtech system ensures that your skis or snowboard are ground with maximum precision, to a smooth finish and with long-lasting results . This gives you real advantages on the slopes:

  • Precise, consistently uniform edge angle
  • Clean, high-quality finish in genuine Race-Edge quality
  • Perfect edge finish from the shovel to the tail – with no irregularities
  • Exceptionally long edge life
  • Gentle material removal, even with frequent use
  • Reliably re-sharpens even corroded edges
  • High throughput with consistently perfect quality
  • Suitable for skis and snowboards
  • More grip, greater safety and, as a result, maximum riding enjoyment

Sidewall pressure curve

In the GRIPtech system, the pressure curve is automatically adapted to the geometry of your skis. This means that both heavily sidecut and less sidecut skis are always ground to perfection.

In addition, the pressure curve can be adjusted to provide extra protection for the tip and tail of the ski – entirely in line with your requirements and the intended use of your skis.

The benefits of the GRIPtech system are illustrated here:
